SJ bought this small diesel shunter locomotive from the factory of Deutz in Germany in 1956. It was registered as littera Z64 no.392. It had a top speed of 32 km/h in shunting mode and 53 km/h when used in line service mode. In the late 1970s Z64 machines got a new and stronger Scania engine as a replacement for the original Deutz motor. This individual however worked in Boden as a switcher at the SJ reparations center and retained its original Deutz engine.

SJ's class V1 no.4 was one of the two first dieselelectric locomotives in Sweden. They were produced by English Electric Co.Ltd. in Stafford in 1948. SJ bought them as atrial in 1949. 1949 to 1971 they worked for SJ. Then 1971 to 1979 this one was used for shunting as a private locomotive at the Fagersta Bruks AB and then 1979 to 1992 at Svenska Stål AB (SSAB). Here we see it as it used to look like at SSAB.

This one is an industrial locomotive which was used by Svenska Stål AB's steel factories. It was built in Finland by Valmet as Valmet's type MOVE 66. In many ways it's very similar to the Dr12 locomotives that the Finnish state railways VR is using, but the Dr12 machines are intended for fast cargo traffic even on mainline tracks. Dr12 locomotives have two bogies and four axles, whereas this one has only three axles. The top speed of this one is just 25 km/h. This locomotive was built in 1970. Valmet built these machines 1967 to 1982.

se-sj-littera_e2-norrbottens_museum-170723-full.jpg

SJ's steam locomotive class E2. This type was designed for the Norrlandsbanan route which only had lightweight rails, so that the locomotive was not allowed to weigh much. 130 of these locomotives were built 1907-1920. They were called littera E. In the 1930s 90 of them were rebuilt and they for instance received an extra axle right in front. These modified machines were then called E2.
